Certification is a really good way of showing you have an understanding of the product you are working with.
The best way to learn about a product is by using it. Content Hub is a product that you can understand better through practice rather than just theory.
Sitecore has a certification and learning program. They offer certifications for their products through online exams. These exams are closed book and monitored.
I actually had a few attempts to pass the exams and this is what led to me building a learning program at EPAM.
The learning program includes Sitecore’s official material and additional internal modules. These modules were created based on experience with Content Hub and aim to test fundamental concepts.
How to learn Sitecore Content Hub effectively
The tried and tested path is below, recently this changed:
- Sitecore free E-Learning
- Sitecore Content Hub Developer Certification Bundle
- Content Hub Documentation
1. Sitecore free E-Learning
Sitecore does have some free learning courses that new users can go and look at. It’s all on the Sitecore learning platform and after login, you can search for the course. These are quite limited and very entry-level.
2. Sitecore Content Hub Developer Certification Bundle
The Sitecore Content Hub Developer Certification Bundle is a newer offering that allows the user to access different forms of Sitecore content to help prepare for the developer certification.
It’s a mix of eLearning, virtual training, study guides, and a voucher for the certification.
This should be a great jumpstart for users and help prepare them for the certification exam.
3. Content Hub Documentation
You can refer to the Sitecore Content Hub documentation for clear and concise information about its features, including code examples and configuration steps. You can find it at this link: Sitecore Content Hub documentation
The documentation pretty much has all of the answers to the exam. There is a lot of documentation and not all areas come up in the exam.
On top of this there are loads of great blogs and the community will help of you need some info.
Additional support
The official flow is above and is the right step for everyone.
In addition to the official Sitecore learning, I have included some more information and example questions below to further assist you.
The test has multiple choices that are challenging. There are 4 options for each question, and it can be tricky to figure out the right one.
Sometimes questions can be challenging when there are multiple options to consider, including a “None of the above” option. This can make it difficult to confidently choose the correct answer. It’s important to carefully read and analyze the question to avoid second-guessing oneself.
Example Questions
Below are just a few questions to give you an idea of the question style. These questions are created from documentation and knowing the data model of Content Hub.
Example Question 1
Describe cardinality and relations for AssetTypeToAsset members
- M.AssetType is a Parent of M.Asset and a Taxonomy
- M.AssetType is a Parent of M.Asset and is not a Taxonomy
- M.AssetType is a Child of M.Asset and a Taxonomy
- M.AssetType is a Child of M.Asset and is not a Taxonomy
The answer is number 1 and is a good type of question that shows how it’s about knowing Content Hub and checking the schema
Example question 2
If you are creating a property and it needs to be used in a security role, what is the correct property type
- Taxonomy
- Option List
The answer is number 1 and that is because only taxonomies can have security applied.
Example question 3
Cardinality of relations is important and taking the following entities M.PCM.Product and M.PCM.ProductFamily. M.PCM.ProductFamily is a taxonomy relation and is the parent of M.PCM.Product.
- Does not matter
- PCMProductFamilyToProduct
- PCMProductToProductFamily
Example question 4
If we want a product to belong only to one product family rather than multiple ones what cardinality is needed. Meaning that each product family may have many products, but each product can only have one product family.
- OneToOne
- OneToMany
- ManyToMany
Example question 5
If we want each product to only one product family and each product family has at most one product what cardinality is needed.
- OneToOne
- OneToMany
- ManyToMany
Example question 6
A product can belong to multiple product families at the same time and product families can have many products within them what cardinality is needed.
- OneToOne
- OneToMany
- ManyToMany
Conclusion
Content Hub exams require study and hands-on use of the platform. Please reach out if you have any questions or need some help.
