Sitecore Content Hub is a really powerful product and is a central part of Sitecore’s Content Cloud pillar.

Sitecore Content Publisher (W2P) is part of the Digital Asset Management category. Allowing users to ‘Centralise all your digital assets and deliver them to any customer touchpoint with an automated DAM solution.’

In this post I break down what Content Publisher is and possible ways to enhance it.

What is Sitecore Content Publisher

Basically it’s an eco system inside Sitecore Content Hub to help customers build print Publications. Below are how Sitecore split up the features:

Graphics at scale

Marketers working globally across different time zones can produce graphics at-scale, reining in costs.

Faster time to market

Save time on design and production of multiple graphic variants and then adapting for numerous channels. Reduce approval cycles.

Brand consistently

Ensure brand compliance, eliminate errors and omissions, and minimize regulatory or litigation risk.

Sections in Content Hub

In the next section I will give more information on the sections in Content Hub. Content Publisher can be found under the Print menu option and it consists of the following.

Publications

Publications is the main area where content authors can manage print assets. It offers a content editor an intuitive interface where they can edit and update a publication. A major part here is scale for editors, publications can be built in minutes from a fully configured template.

Features like saving publications and downloads are all dynamic. An example being while a publication is generating the downloads option disappears until its generated, then reappears ready for the user.

Templates

Templates is where the editing and configuration power is. Either by creating from scratch of importing an InDesign, Illustrator or Photoshop file directly into the Content Hub platform.

Templates need to be configured before they are used in Publications. They can be edited at any point and any new publications that then use a template will receive the latest changes.

How to enhance Content Publisher

What Sitecore has built OOTB with Content Publisher gives users a huge amount of power to create publications quickly and easily. However organisations may require more capabilities and extend upon the foundation already built.

Chili Publish have a powerful API that allows various parts of documents to be manipulated depending on the need which offer powerful extension possibilities to Content Publisher.

The diagram below is something I put together for the London SUG for a talk I previous did on this topic. It shows the major parts from ingestion of templates to communicating with the Chili Publish API.

Other extension possibilities could be:

  • Integrating maps
  • Pulling additional data from Sitecore Content Hub PCM
  • Automated image population
  • Custom data injected into templates
